Personalisation

The Personalisation Pilot has now been awarded full pilot status by the Department of Health. It has commenced work with the first few referrals to start testing out how people may decide to use their personal budget and what developments need to happen locally to support this new way of working. The pilot is applying for ‘direct payment powers’ to enable the NHS to legally offer people the option to receive their personal budget directly into their bank account. This is an option only available to pilot sites at present.
A Personalisation Launch Event was held on 15 October 2010 which was designed and organised in conjunction with ‘Vital Link users and carers’ organisations, NHS Lambeth, SLaM, the Lambeth Self-Directed Support team, local voluntary organisations. The conference was attended by over 150 mental health service users, carers and professionals and received very positive feedback from all who attended. The aim of the day was to bring people together and use creative media and peoples experience to learn more about personalisation and personal budgets, and to discuss new ways of finding and gaining support.
